Just laid some laminate flooring...

For the scotia beading i've used some solid wood (unpainted 21x21mm)

I would like to paint it white and just wanted to know whether a it was necessary to prime the wood first?

Prime, undercoat and then fix the scotia.

Primer gets absorbed in to wood wheras undercoat and top coat don't get absorbed (as much). Consider primer as glue for further paint coats.

Ironically the guy in the shop said that i did not need to prime them...

I am a little confused.. But i will prime them just to be on the safe side

consider glossing 'em too before fixing on to the wall.....less chance of getting paint on the laminate.
