What should I be expecting in the way of documentation after having a Solar / Battery system fitted - all I seem to have is a "MCS" certificate and an Invoice ?

What might I be asked for in the future to show that it was all installed correctly

Nothing. , An Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) which is what I suspect you might be thinking you need and a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certificate are not the same thing and don't necessarily need to be obtained together. An EIC is a certificate required when new electrical work is done, while an MCS certificate is required for installers of renewable energy systems, such as solar panels, who want to access government incentives and prove that the work has been done to relevant standards.

Whilst that is all true, there is surely no way of installing a "solar/battery system" without there being some "new electrical work done" - so, although, as you say, it might not be 'obtained together' with the MCS, the OP surely should receive an EIC, shouldn't he?

Installation Certificate
Compliance Certificate
Flexi-Orb Certificate
Notification to allow you to export
Second MPAN number
Some were links to a website for me to download. And there are some alternative methods, like a completion certificate instead of compliance certificate.

That was just the way I read and understood it to mean. I suppose it is debatable, but I would think any soilicitor would quite happily accept that, which is what the op seemed concerned about. There is nothing to stop him asking the installers for further certs though

I don't think it's particularly debatable. If a significant amount of electrical work was done, then there should be an EIC, regardless of anything else.

My advice to the OP would be that he should not worry about potential future buyers or their solicitors. If they want to back out of a sale because of the absence of 'bits of paper', that's their problem.

In any event, any 'bits of paper' (even EICRs) inevitably relate to some past point in time, and, for whatever reason, the electrical installation theoretically could have become diabolically dangerous since then - so any prospective buyer is always advised to commission (and pay for) a current EICR if they have any concerns about electrical safety.

Part P if in England or wales
As I'm sure you know, "Part P" is just a sentence in a piece of legislation. I presume you are referring to notification required by the Building Regs but, if so, I think you probably should say that more clearly, since an OP may well not understand what you are talking about.

As said, my wife had some bits emailed to her, but most was placed on a web site for us to down load, and she was sent a link, I felt this was not how it should be done, I would have hoped it would have been posted to us.

It was one long PDF document which had all the bits required, the only thing which seemed to be missed was the export MPAN number.

As you must have noticed, much of the world has moved totally away from anything 'posted'. Like most 'advances', it has both its pros and cons :-)
