Does Anyone Know Whats Wrong With My Boiler

If the diverter was leaking and the pin was stuck in one position how does removing the motor unit let the operating pin move?

The diverter's pin virtually never sticks.

Its the motor which fails when water enters from the leaking gland.

That fails the motor and can also sometimes even cause the 1.6A fuse on the PCB to blow such is the live-neutral current through the water.

The motors can, although very rarely, fail in any position and that position is most often one or other of the motors resting positions.

Quite so - if you looked at one such component every working day for 45 years, then you'd only see one such stuck pin, eh? ;)
