I notice in most pictures laminates are aligned where after the first plank is placed as normal, then the next coloumn will have half a plank with another full plank underneath it, then the next coloumn has a normal plank like the first. I am guessing these is for aesthetic reasons.

If you just place one full plank after the next means less work and you can just measure the remaining space at the end. is it ok to just do this or might it affect sturdity or anything like that?

Thanks

overlapping does actually aid them staying together too.

In my kids hallway I laid one section like this then the corridor dog legs around and I had to over lap all the joins. After a year there are small gaps caused by the kids running up and down, tap and ballet dancing there etc. but the over lapped ones are still as when I laid them.

The wife has already added sorting them out to my list.........

I would overlap them in hindsight.

This floor was the cheap and cheerful stuff though nothing fancy.
