Hello, sages and savants. Our Vaillant combi boiler 824 has been installed just short of five years. Only the other day, it was serviced. The problem is that, for the last twelve or eighteen months (perhaps longer), when the hot water tap is on and hot water is flowing, it will, VERY OCCASIONALLY, start to run cold, and I cannot think why.
I am aware that, if the tap is turned on only partly, this can do something to the works, and my wife and I are always very careful to turn the tap full-on (after all, when hot, though the flow is satisfactory, it is not wasteful, as it is only of moderate force, at best).
This occurrence may be only once in about a month, though sometimes the interval can be shorter — rarely, it can happen twice in one month.
When I go to switch the boiler off and on again, I always look at the display window, and no error alert shows. When I switch it on again, it just re-loads, and all is well — until the next time.
The other day, I mentioned this to the heating engineer that serviced the boiler. His response was a non-committal grunt. He did not mention it before leaving (and I forgot to press the matter).
Is there any genius out there that can explain this, and tell me what to do about it? It could happen when we are both at a disadvantage, undressed in the bathroom, so I should like to prevent it happening at all.
With thanks in advance, for any help.
