Hi.need some advise.we have door bell powered by mains through transformer.it has two push buttons fitted on side and front door.few days back some one rang the door bell and it kept ringing for some time as bell is stuck on in on position.after few minutes ringing continously it went off dead.what could have gone wrong.is the bell itself packed.i have tried both push buttons not working.or transformer is dead.

You need to go over the circuit with a multimeter.
But at a guess the push button used jammed in the on position. Neither the bell or transformer may be rated for continuous load so something cut out. Most probably a fuse on the output side of the transformer which is possibly a 20mm glass type. If there is no fuse the transformer may have a heat detector which is non resettable. But as I said you need to check carefully with a multimeter.
