Door Casing Removal

Hi all, I’m looking to take out 2 bedroom door casings in a 1900’s terraced house, my concern is, will any bricks fall from above the casing.
Just worried that the top of the frame is supporting the bricks above.

Drill into the bricks above the casing and screw a baton across the opening, that will stop anything moving but the odds are if it's plastered bricks and your careful nothing will move without the baton.
