Doorstep paint

Painting a 1970s concrete door-step that has never been painted before.

Can I use ordinary "bog standard" gloss paint for this?
Or do I need masonry paint/special doorstep paint.

Use the correct paint & prime or seal it.
Else it will all come off

I use this, http://www.focusdiy.co.uk/invt/9000079 it has a non-slip ingedient in it (sand I think).
