Hi, may be a quick one here, have a number of walls ready for dot and dab to blockwork. What's the min we can get away with in terms of loss of size in each room as some rooms we are really worried about losing valuable cm/inches.

12.5 mm for the plasterboard plus about 10 mm for the adhesive if you put it on tight.

why the need for dot and dab, could you not just plaster and skim?

Would like to but will this not cost a lot more? On a very tight budget and have a number of rooms to do at first fix.

not sure about cost as we only occasionally do dot and dab and we do it ourselves and then get someone in to skim it unless its a small area, 95% of our work is on studs so we just board and skim.

Im sure a pro plasterer will be along to advise on the cost difference shortly.

Personally I would have it plastered conventionally, you won't regret it. If you do board it out with dry wall adhesive, it needs a continuous bead around the perimeter of each board and any holes in it for sockets and services etc.

What is the cost difference though? And also sounds like its a lot more labour intensive? Or not?

I would get a plasterer round to quote for the two options!
- And also if its your plan, to skim boards you have put up.
