I had 3 new windows installed last week and today it's rained hard so I had a look at how they coped. Two questions:

* the external cill beneath the windows is completely horizontal, so water sits on it rather than running off. Is this correct?

* there's a gap beneath the windows where they join the cill, so the water on the cill appears able to run back under the window, though I can't see what happens in that gap under the window - ie can the water work through anywhere or is there a water-tight seal/ Again, is this usual?

1- Put a level on the cill and show us that

2- The gap between the cill and window is not a gap as such, it allows water to drain away through drainage slots you'll see along the bottom rail when the window is open, pour a cup of water in there to see them work

Thanks.

spirit level shows there is indeed a slight slope.

Thanks again.
