Our builder has just fitted some double glazing. I have no issue with the quality of the units but am concerned at the size of the gaps between the window surround and the frame of the double glazing unit. Some sides the gap is over 3 inches. The gap has been filled with expanding foam and a upvc cover placed over the foam. Should I be concerned? I believe the builder should have measured the window better. Will this solution to the gaps last. I,m concerned that the foam will degrade within a few years and the work need to be redone.

Is that 75mm each side or overall?? As HD said 75mm is a massive gap, if its only inch n half each side and its being plastered boarded inside and rendered outside it can be overcome, if its not then your only option is to trim the sides with plastic. Doesn't sound good... Put a photo up
I think most people knew the answer to this before opening the thread!
Personally I would not expect the gap to be larger than around 10mm per side, and hence totally consealed on the inside by the thickness of the plaster, and on the outside by a bead of sealant.
