So I’m looking at adding downlights under the garage door. Thing is there literally no void space between the upvc panel and brickwork. My question is, is there a way round this without installing a soffit to give the void space needed?

How thick is the white panel?

I doubt either are 'spotlights'.

I think that white strip (upvc ? ) may be covering a metal lintel and it would a lot easier to surface mount them on the brickwork.

if there is a slight space between white board and lintel these "surface mount" downlights might work

I think Pete's striplight suggestion is the best. If the PVC board is easily replaceable then swap it for fascia or window board, installed with the lip at the front, projecting downwards, and put the lights up against that - an easy way to make sure they are straight.

If you use a bullnose window board you might be able to have the lights concealed, i.e. not directly visible when looking upwards.

Might as well go the whole hog with individually addressable RGB or RGBW so that you can go all festive at Christmas :ROFLMAO:

Thanks guys! The LED strip is a great idea, definitely food for thought
