Haha ok well here goes…
I’m laying a new Indian sandstone patio for a customer next week.
The entire garden runs slightly down towards the new build(!) house.
I’m creating 2 levels divided by a retainer made from sleepers.
( so lower area sandstone -9x4 metres, upper area levelled & turfed.
Would you install drain channels against the house & have the patio sloping slightly towards the house & run the water into a drain that way , or fit the channels against the sleeper retainer & send the water into one of the many drains present in the lawn ( new builds eh!)
Any help would be appreciated.
The garden is pretty damp hence why I’m gonna using aco channels rather than just gravel!!

Put the drain against the house. Sleepers rot and move over time. You can also more easily pick up the drain for the downpipe I imagine.

That’s true about the down pipe but the idea is the water wouldn’t get to the sleepers in the first place no???

As a 'professional' you should be well aware that using any of the existing drains is not permitted.
