Draining a system

i have done this in the past but with an old boiler - not a combi boiler. whats the prcedure for draining a system with a combi boiler. before i just shut off the water suply at the mains and turned the boiler and pump off. then when i finished my job just turned the supply back on -is it any different for a combi? any help is appreciated.

Nah it's easier. Drain system without shutting mains off as normal. When you want to fill up again, use the filling loop supplied with the combi. Don't let the pressure get anywhere near 3 bar, final pressure with all rads beld should be about 1.2 bar. Oh, bleed pump.
 
great - do i turn the water off at the boiler then before draining the system? how do I do that?(i haven't yet looked at my brothers combi)and i don't need to touch the mains?
