Wish to change a radiator, and have to drain the system, unfortunately no radiator has a drain outlet, is the only solution to pick a ground floor rad and open the valve or is there another less messy solution. Thanks

Is the new rad. a differant size?
Do you need to change the pipe work?
If the pipe work does not need changing Shut both rad valves loosenone end of the rad. and just drain the rad. If you have to drain the system attach a hose pipe fitting onto the rad valve and drain through a hose pipe.
Make sure you have shut down boiler ETC.

you can get self-cutting washing machine tap clamp onto pipe, screw it in and use w/m hose to drain down into bucket ,tap can turn on and off so u can empty bucket if hose cannot reach outside[/list]

Thanks for advice, self cutting taps sounds like the best option due to location of the radiator that has to be changed
