Can anyone suggest a way of doing this? The pool conatians approx. 100 litres and is at the top of an incline so perhaps siphoning would suffice. The siphon would then need to be connected to a hose pipe which would be placed in a drain.

Would the siphon get clogged with the inevitable debris in the pool? What sort of siphoning device would be suitable and where can it be purchased?

Thanks in advance.

Put salt in the pool, this way the ducks will get thursty and drink more water, the pool will empty in no time. ;)

A submersible pump would be the answer, if filter screen gets blocked, just lift it out to clear blockage.

Are there any ducks resident on the pond? if so where are they going to go?

no, seriously.. some of the larger ponds and man made lakes have a drain and a plug..

100 Litres is only a couple of bathtub fulls, or 10 bucket fulls.

I would try a syphon. If you completely fill a length of garden hosepipe with water, and keep your thumb over the end until you get it into position the syphon action will be self-starting.

A basket (even a waste paper basket) dropped in the pond would help keep detritus away from the end of the hose.

pop bottle and drill a load of 5mm or so holes into it.. then stick the hose into the neck end.

I use a boat sump pump for the hot tub [500 litres] the small models are about £15 and need 12volts [I use a moped battery].They are small enough to put an old sock over to act as filter though they are so small they don't clog very easily.

If it's not very deep, just dig a channel out of the side, when you need to refill it simply backfill the channel. Simples

A hose full of water ( finger over the ends =2 people ;) ) laid in the water @ the top and the other end lower down the slope WILL syphon  That`s all a syphon is ;)
