dried Hardwall, PVA or wet?

I've put Hardwall on a wall but had to let it dry out. It's well scored though, so there's a good key.

So now it's skimming, but should the Hardwall be PVA'd, or will wetting it be enough to secure a skim coat? I'll use Multifinish for the skim.

While any of the above will work, to help stop blistering I would give it a good soaking the day before .
This will still give you a little bit of suction to help the finish 'pull in ' nicely





and if it is not damp enough next day (it should be) a bit of water with a roller will do the job. As long as you can't hear it sucking when water goes on you should be fine.

If you want to eliminate suction entirely, diluted SBR or PVA the day before will do the trick - it needs to be set to seal up the wall.
