drillng disaster

at the moment whether i put heating on or hot water, the boiler fires up and pump kicks in. it goes for maybe 2-3 mins then cuts out and wont go again till the boiler is cool. the flow pipe from the boiler is piping hot ad goes about 1m before its is cool. the return is slower to heat, i think this is as a consequence of the flow not going anywhere.
the cold feed is open vent in to header tank. the return from the boiler to the pump is via an air separator.

spoke to BG again -- wont do anything till i agree to powerflush! But i think they say if it doesn't do anything they won't charge. might be worth a go.

my boiler is potterton profile 40e

First thing i would be doing is check the actual pump valves are open and have not bee snapped shut when they changed the pump , then as i have previously said checking that air sep and pipework is not blocked .
Even with water running clear it will surprise you blockages that are in air seps and pipes

EUREKA

Got a random call form a plumbing company (i put a request on website). they came round and had a look. despite my checking one of the pump valves had been shut!! problem solved i think. its all firing up - better than ever. i wonder if the first BG engineer that replaced the pump didnt fully open the valve (or more likely dodgy valve anyway)

Got "arsy" call from BG in the morning before that as well stating that "3 engineers have recommended the powerflush so it clearly needs to be done. they can't all be wrong" The twits left me without heating/hot water for a week!! PLus wanted me to pay £600+ for a ppowerflush. wwhichi bet would've fixed the problem when they opened the valve! I shall be taking this further..

thanks for all your help to everyone.. great website
