Dripping Overflow Pipe

Am i right in thinking that the tap connector is the bit on the top right of your picture and the large white washers go either side of the tank

do i really need to replace the tap connector which seems to be in place and working fine at the moment? Can I not just screw the thread of the new valve into the exisiting tap connector.

then entire valve fastens to a tap connector, which you don't remove

In my first picture, the white things are fixing nuts, which clamp the valve to the tank.

oops. sorry, i missed that. I'll give it a go tonight.

Many thanks for the advice. you all provide a great service!
