I have a slopping concrete drive to garage, it would benefit from a drainage gully, ACO or Wicks - Toolstation sell gully's that can be fitted after floor sawing concrete channel.

As long as they take cars driving over the grill .

My question can the drain be put straight into the main sewer manhole as there is a cover beside drive or would this have any smells coming back ?

Also would this be legal ?

Drainage hierarchy should be applied. Firstly, is there room/scope for a soakaway?

If not, and you have separate Surface Water drainage, then the channel drain needs to go into this.

Last resort, if the sewer also takes the Rainwater from the roof, then it is a 'Combined' sewer and rainwater will already be going into it, as long as you fit a suitable Trap either on the channel drain outlet, or connect the channel drain to a suitable gulley, then you wont get odour issues.

Note, Permission would need to be sought before making any connection to the drainage system.
