I'm going round in circles with mixed advice... which order do the components go is it vapour barrier first ie. onto the existing wall, then steel galvinised studs, inset with rigid insulation board, then plasterboard?

Or... does the VB go on after the studs and insulation ie. behind the PB?

And... is a VB the one with holes in or a thick black heavy gauge membrane (which is what I have bought).

Also, what is the deal with 'taping' joints - what tape do u use and where do u tape?

Please can someone give me the correct info here, I need to do this job today.

Many thanks

yes

Often just polythene or foil and definitely no holes.

Ideally, the VPL should be completely gas tight and taping the joints is good. Small holes don't usually cause problems. You could just overlap the membrane at the studs.

Good luck!
