After installing an electrical box in the wall to be dry-lined, how does one ensure that the hole in the plasterboard will fit exactly over the box?

Maybe me not understanding the question....but use a tape measure....otherwise you could of used a dry liner box

If it a metal box type sticking out slighty,you can sometime tap the plasterboard lighty against the metal box to mark it.

A good idea! But if the box wasn't proud enough, I suppose you could screw a couple of sharpened screws (points where the heads were) into the box lugs and use them to mark the plasterboard?

It up to you how you want to do it,another way is to drill a hole in the middle of the socket area then use a padsaw & cut tight plasterboard round against the metal box,but remove the cable wire to prevent damage.
