 I am new to this excelent site and have just read the 'Dry rot subject posted 26 April 2005. Which was replied to by 'Chappers'.
Our house is constructed from very thick, what I believe to be, sandstone. Nearly all the internal walls are lath and plaster. All downstairs floors are wood floorboards. All windows are surrounded by masses of wood, stained and varnished. The loft has wooden floorboards. Masses of wood on the stairs and two landings. I am seriously very worried at the prospect of there being dry rot in the property and I don't have a clue how to spot it.
E.G. if it were in the eves, or the dark corners of the loft spaces, or behind the lath and plaster, etc.
Should I be this worried, should I be crawling about under floors, above ceilings, in the loft, etc.
Can you advise. Many thanks for your help.
