Does anyone know of a standard central heating radiator which will take a
heating element (of the sort used in towel rail radiators). I know there
used to be radiators where the inlet/outlet went straight into the (slightly
rounded) bottom of the radiator but all I can find now are inlet/outlets via
an 'elbow'. Any help/advice much appreciated. (Don't want to use a standard 'towel rail' - space, cost and effectiveness!).

I've done a bit of a search and like you came up short. Have you considered reclaimed older style rad and get it refinished. Might be an option.

Have a search for an aluminium radiator, they should suit what you are looking to do.
