Just had a new cooker installed by a 'certified' gas engineer who I regarded as a friend. He didnt have the correct hose so used the one from my old cooker that had been installed for around 10 years. He said it looked ok .... Anyway I helped him install it (used my drill for anchoring etc) then he tested for leaks with a squeezy bottle). I was told to expect a gas installation certificate afterwards as he had to register the install through the internet!!!
Not particularly impressed with the install procedures as I would have expected a new hose and a proper gas detection for the price (especially as he was supposed to be a friend) however the job was done ok.
My questions are....
1. Is he legally required to use a proper gas detection device,
2. Is it ok to use the old hose
3. Should I receive a gas install certificate for the work

Thank You

You're not going to get a new hose and install for £75.00, I charge more than that and I'm up north. Curry's have a basic install charge of £90.00 for a standard cooker install.

He should have connected a manometer to the meter to check there were no leaks, soapy liquid on the joints is a bit amateurish.
