What's the use in offering a billion-pound bribe to a bunch of crackpot fundamentalists, if they won't do the job you paid for?

"The Democratic Unionist party has refused to back the government on several amendments to the finance bill in a move that casts grave doubt over its parliamentary alliance with the ruling Tory party.

Theresa May’s Tories do not have a majority in the House of Commons and are able to govern only thanks to a “confidence and supply” arrangement with the DUP’s 10 MPs in the aftermath of the June 2017 general election.

In return for backing the government on crucial votes — in particular the Queen’s Speech and the finance bill — the party, led by Arlene Foster, secured a substantial financial package for Northern Ireland worth an estimated £1bn

On Monday evening the DUP abstained on three parts of the bill and voted with Labour on a fourth, which urged the government to review the impact of increases to the personal tax allowance on child poverty."

The DUP is something you really couldnt make up.

Theresa May has a snap election to secure a landslide....goes horribly wrong and she needs the DUP to get a majority.

2 years later and the Irish border becomes an issue.

They are doing the job they are being paid for, Brexit means Brexit.
Theresa isn't going to get her deal through the commons.
So it is either remain or Brexit ,if she remains what happens then? Make your mind up.

That explains why London voted to remain, not many English people there.
The author of that piece in the Guardian is Fintan O'Toole a modern day journalistic version of Lord HawHaw.
He is right about some things though, to many foreigners in the country with no sense of British history or identity has undermined society.
The ultimate aim of the EU is to colonise the UK with foreigners in order to eradicate British national identity and replace it with a 'Euro' identity which is already happening in Cities like London.

O'Toole seems to think that role reversal has taken place in relations between Ireland and Britain and that Ireland historically the junior partner in power relations between Britain and Ireland is now in the driving seat because of its membership of the EU.
The truth is that nothing has changed ,the usual suspects are using Ireland to undermine Britain which is why Ulster has always been garrisoned with British people to keep foreigners out.
The DUP are only trying help Britain to remain British and all they get is abuse from self hating Brits like John D and co.

It's interesting though not surprising that you use the name Ulster.

Surely they are more concerned with keeping part of Ireland British.

There are not enough words in the dictionary to adequately describe what complete nonsense is sloshing around between your ears.
