On the back of my (& others) DVR, there is a row (or rows) of bayonet sockets (forgotten the correct name).

What I'm thinking, as they're all the same, both input and output, what is the likelihood of causing damage - say to a camera for instance - if the wrong leads are plugged into the wrong sockets?

I have never known any damage caused by connecting inputs into outputs (or vice-versa) things just don't work!

wont cause any damage but the picture quality can be poor if connected to the out instead of in on the bncs, found that out when some muppet connected then on out on a job and the pictures where poor..
