earth from ufh to thermostat to RCD - need a metal box?

I'm about to complete an electric box inside a bathroom where to fix the RCD unit and the thermostat linked to the UFH.
The UFH cable comes with a earth core - but the thermostat doesn't have any earth connector....shall I use a metal box to cover that function?
Until now, as a temporary move I'd simply connected the earth from the UFH cable directly to the RCD.

what are metal boxes for then? Isn't that clear? (shall I pay to get a good answer from ya?).
Then, what are forum for then? Should we get a web engine specifically designed for the leccy branch to answer commoners' questions? - maybe automatic answers like: "get a good leccy" cos' as usual I get carp answers in this particular branch of this great forum...

Metal boxes are simply a cheap way of making a box that can be buried in the render/plaster.
If the stat doesn't have an earth terminal, then simply use a single way of "choc block" terminal strip to link the earths of the supply and load cables. If the box has an earth terminal (as is the case with most metal boxes), then that terminal can be used.

BTW - have you notified this work before starting ?

I would say the terminal in the metal box MUST be used, as this is the only way to ensure the bolts holding the stat in the box are earthed?

Thanks a lot for your useful feedback - as you can see I was in the right direction and just looking for a confirmation....no keen on choc-blocks - the metal box would do.
I've realized about the 2005 part P changes only after starting some electrical jobs (all involving the new bathroom) - I took great care of following the basic guidelines - the bathroom isn't in full service right now (the toilet for example isn't yet installed)...I'll contact the local council just before completing the bathroom - there isn't just a new ufh....there is also a new ventilation system, a new steam shower, led down-lighters and more (they'll check all at once and hopefully it will saves me a few quids).

You're required to notify before starting work. You should be able to get away with notifying now and not mentioning that you've already started. Some councils charge extra for "regularisation" which it would be if you wait until you've finished.
