earth loop testers

i have got a hold of an earth loop tester, megger LT5. when i use it tho it trips the RCD. am i susposed to bypass the RCD?

Some testers will trip the RCD. Others are designed not to, you need to check the spec and manual.

The LT5 will trip out rcd's you need the LT6 or LT7 to overcome the tripping rcd during EFLI testing.

Using Test equipment is fraught with dangers, if you do not know how to use this equipment, then you should leave well alone.
