Earthing light fitting

I was trying to replace a light fitting which on the instructions says must be earthed but the existing ceiling rose does not appear to have an earth wire I enclose a picture

looks like it is time to rewire your lighting

as a temporary mesure you could run a peice of 4mm earth cable from the fitting to a socket but the cuircuit really should be rewired

my late father used to say "nothing so permanent as a temporay job."

just a thought, it may be the earth wires are in the ceiling.

true but that looks like it has been wired with some form of singles

and remember just because you find an earth wire in the cable doesn't mean it actually connects to earth

new to this site but for what its worth i would definately advise upgrading your wiring you have singles supplying that fitting!
