I have repaired the stringer/wall cracks on my winder staircase by raking out, filling the void behind the gap with foam , raking out a bit of foam and then filling the resulting gap with Toupret interior filler. It looks good and solid so far where the stringer is right next to, or goes under the plasterboard, and I'll probably try leaving it un-caulked there.
However , there is a section where the stringer comes out from the wall by about 3 or 4mm. At the top and bottom of that section its spot on. Would it be total madness to add Toupret to the face of the wall (faded up over a foot or so maybe) so it flares to meet the stringer edge?. I don't want to have to use a trim or use a wedge of filler/caulk if possible.
If this isn't mad, what's the best way to do it?
Pic shows the gap between wall and stringer (its already been foamed and the wall filled)
