So the Tories got a caning, but does it really mean anything? Are mid-term elections just a protest? Do people revert back to their favoured party after giving them a scare?

What do you think?

Voting merely means turning the dung heap and letting another little sh*it rise to the top for a while...

Anyone who votes (especially under our corrupt gerrymandered system) is at best completely deluded...

And the people who are really in charge are laughing at every one of you, as they continue to pick your pockets...

So what would happen at the next General Election if,,,,, Not one voter attended the polling stations whatsoever? I know it will never happen, but hypothetically what would happen if the electorate (as one) decided as a protest, not to cast one single vote on polling day??
Would we be left governmentless?

Then there would be no mandate to govern...

Which would hopefully create the right condition for a complete overhaul of our current political system...

A peaceful transition might change things if you live in cloud cuckoo land...Or if you are more realistic a revolution is needed...!

the present masters would stay in power as there would be no one with more votes than they have so no need to dissolve parliament as they are not loosers
or perhaps a hung parliament with all groups having equal say

No I don't think so I suppose they would form an emergency coalition
government and hang on with that for a while, give us a few sweeteners, then have another go.

If nobody voted-- the whole shebang would just roll on and on and on- from one disaster to another for sure. Until that is 'shadows lurking in the bacground pounced. then all of a sudden we would have big onions on top of houses of parliament and the backbenches were removed and replaced by 'Mats'.
There would be loud tuneless music playing all over the capital and the 'true British folks would all of a sudden be in the minority .
That is the reality .
Let us take heart from the UKIP for stepping up a few notches in their standing in this country.
Lets hope it provides a impetus for others to follow and vote accordingly to install a crucial alternative to the dross who have been governing this country for far too long .
THIS I fear will be our only opportunity to change and return to our ancient respectful way of life .
Please - lets all pull together and make sure we all can have a new opportunity to make a fresh start and make Britain great once again.
UKIP, MUST be the way to go.

Alot of people are pi55ed off and don't trust anything,or the traditional parties, If UKIP cop a lot of their votes I wonder how that would spin out at the next election

I reckon UKIP are now seen as a real party and thus a real choice. The only way to stop UKIP - is for the big parties to pinch their policies.

Dunno Joe, I still believe UKIP are a minority party (obviously from the amount of seats they have) (at the last count 0 in parliament) Although they could become the party of the protest vote, and therefore hold some sway in elections, but I don't think they will become a major player in British politics.

Of course they have no seats. That's because of our 'first past the post' system. Almost as many people in Eastleigh voted for UKIP as voted for the Libs, yet the seat was taken by the Libs.

It wouldn't take an enormous increase in votes, at least in closely-fought constituencies, for UKIP to take its first seats.

I hope that the Eastleigh result is an indication to some of our dithering voters that a vote for UKIP need not be a 'wasted vote' and they should go out and vote for them at the next opportunity.

I reckon they'll end up as the third party next time around. That means seats in the house and a voice to make the wishes of the people heard.
