Hi

I have a ring main dedicate to my kitchen and protected my a 32A RCBO at the
consumer unit. At an indoor socket on the inside of the outside kitchen wall, I have
run a 40cm spur through the wall to an outdoor socket. The outdoor socket does not
have a switch on it nor does it have an RCD.

Is this OK?

The Which book says I must use RCD protection, but as the ring main is already
RCD protected (by the RCBO) I have not put another one in as I saw no point.

Another posting here suggested putting the outside socket as an in-line part of the
ring main, but it's too late for that now. (I do like another post's suggestion of using
an FCU to turn it off to stop people stealing leccy etc, but I haven't done that (but I
could still do that if necessary). Do I need to put in an FCU for it?)

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

what you have done is fine

there is no point on haveing multiple rcds in a chain unless at least one of them is a time delayed type. otherwise they are almost certian to all trip together.
