I'm renting a flat with E7 heating in, which I know nothing about. Put heater on in bedroom last night. Switched it off at wall in the early hours and this morning it was still red hot. Fiddled with summer/winter settings and switched off heating switches in fuse box, but still red hot when I left half an hour later. Any ideas? I'm worried it might catch on fire while I'm out!

the idea of economy 7 heating is they store heat, they warm up at night when electric is cheaper then the heat is released according to the setting you have it on.there is one setting for incoming heat which means the higher you have it the hotter it gets, the other setting is for the release of the heat,it is quite normal no need to worry............ian

Thanks Ian. I know I must sound like a complete imbecile, but how long will it take to cool down? I haven't been there long and compared to central heating, this seems like a nightmare!

they take a while to cool down, if you dont want it so hot turn the input level down or if you dont want it on turn it off at the wall before you go to bed.they dont start warming up till the economy 7 starts working at night........ian
