I have an Ecotec 837 Combi boiler which has been serviced regularly since 2009 when it was installed. I also have a magna clean filter installed and everything has been working fine for years. Recently, I have started experiencing a few problems and there and no faults shown. Firstly, when calling for hot water in the shower, you will get constant hot water and suddenly a drop in temperature. On some occassions, this goes completely cold and then back to hot, no one else if using any taps or flushing the toilet etc, which may affect the flow. Shower thermostat has been replaced as well, so as to rule this out. The second issue is that the boiler seems to make a loud humming noise like the pump/fan and this is intermittent.

One thing that seems to be happening of lately is that when i set the heating to say 21 degree and then later decide to turn up the temperature is does not seem to ever reach that. I am not sure if this is something on the boiler or the thermostat, which is like the one in the link:

I have changed the batteries on the thermostat as well. The boiler runs, but after reaching a certain temperature, the flame light on the lcd display on the boiler goes off. It then comes on and goes off after a very short time. something does not seem to be right and I think this is why the radiators farthest from the boiler do not heat up properly, since the boiler keeps cutting out. I know in the past if I set it to the maximum temperature on the room thermostat it would just run until the unbearably hot. If it run for a good length of time then the radiators would heat up and they did so in the past(These are two in the extension on the house, all other radiators work fine apart from the issue with it taking ages to reach the desired temperature.
The boiler has had a pressure valve replaced 2.5years ago, a diverter valve about 12 months ago, and a glass fuse on the PCB.
I have home care cover with British Gas, but last time I called them they could find nothing wrong and therefore they are not in a position to swap out any components.
Can anyone advise, since I am getting to the point where, I wonder if I need a new boiler.
Many thanks in advance...........
