I have an Ecotec Exclusive Green IQ 835, coming up for 5 years old. In this time, it's had at least 6 warranty call outs which is a shame as I went with Vaillent as I was very happy with the boiler in our old house.
The main issue is the O2 sensor being replaced once a year and today the fault code is back, though this time, the boiler is still working. Last time the engineer came, he changed the settings to put a delay on the boiler firing if someone just turns the hot tap on for 5 seconds (the teaspoon washers as he called them) so the sensor isn't constantly preheated during the purge cycle.
The warranty is now ending and I see the sensors are £125, so at the current rate, around 2500 quids worth with labour over the next 10 years.
Is this a know issue with these boilers? The 834 in the old house was still on the original sensor after 10 years. Unless there's an uprated part, or a non vaillent sensor to try, I'm not sure what to do, other than suggest they replace it with an non green iq boiler.
Thanks, Barry
