Eggshell

I have to repaint a couple of rooms that currently have white gloss woodwork; skirtings, door frames etc.

I would like to paint them using oil based eggshell.

Is the process as follows;

- rub down existing with 240 grit (not to bare wood but to get a key)
- apply one coat eggshell
- rub down with 320
- apply second coat eggshell

Or do I need to use an undercoat and one coat eggshell?

Rub down with 100 grit (oxide paper) followed by two coats of eggshell as its 'self-undercoating'
