I'm researching a system that I've just finished repairing, and wonder if anyone has come across anything similar.

The system is ducted warm air, and is traditional in that it heats up air that is then ducted it around the house, drawn through a filter and pushed around by a low speed motor-driven impeller, but it's unusual in the following ways:

1. It's about 40 years old.
2. The source of heat is electric element (on a 'night storage' circuit).
3. The electrical supply is three-phase.

The repairs were reasonably simple - motor completely rebuilt (including a full rewind) by a local specialist, new fan shaft and bearing, repair to thermal cut-out switch.

Apart from some ageing wiring, and the insulation probably starting to break down, which can all be replaced of course, the system has plenty of life left in it, hence it was worth the costly rewind.

The customer told me that the manufacturer was called "Electric Air", and that she believed it to be a Canadian company. What I'd like to know is whether a wiring diagram exists for this system. It's a little late, in that I pretty much understand all of it now, but it would be a 'nice-to-have' for future maintenance.

Thanks in advance for any information on this.

I think I remember that, not as long ago as 40 years. I have an idea the trade name was "ElectricAire" with an "e" on the end. It may have been plugged by the then Electricity Boards.

edited to say, just done a quick search, I must have the memory of an Oliphant!

Thanks JohnD - your suggestion has thrown up many Internet links and threads for me to follow up.
