Hello all,

We have an electric shower fitted to our main bedroom in the bathroom. It comes from the consumer unit in the kitchen up into the floor and across the entire house to the bedroom at the other end of our house.

We want aonther shower fitted in the middle bathroom and the electrician says that it is OK to junction box off the original shower feed to save pulling up the carpet/floors in 3 rooms and landing. Is this OK to do ???

Is it a shower supplied with hot water that is electrically pumped or a shower fed by cold water that is heated by electricity in the shower.

If the first ( pumped hot water ) the electrician may be right

If the second ( heated by electricity ) then he is almost certainly wrong unless there are means to ensure that only one shower can be used at a time.

Using two electrically heated showers at the same time on a domestic electrical supply is likely to overload the consumer unit and possible also the incoming supply fuse.
