Hi

I have a question regarding showers and their CU config.

1. Can someone explain the difference between an RCBO and an RCD.

2. Does a shower have to be connected to an RCBO or is it just recommended?

3. Does a shower have to be connected to the RCD side of a split load unit?

Sorry if these questions seem dim just after a better understanding.

cheers :)

Sure, an RCBO is an RCD and MCB in the same unit, an RCD protects against earth leakage, an MCB protects against overcurrent, an RCBO does both

There is nothing in the regs that states that showers should be RCD protected, but it is recommended by most electricians and most shower makers that you do have RCD protection on the shower (this RCD protection can be provided by RCD or RCBO)

See above
