Earlier this year Environment Secretary Michael Gove looked set to ban live animal exports, especially those animals being exported to Countries that require a long journey of up to six weeks in length.

It now looks like He is under pressure from powerful industrial farming lobbyists to back down.

Some on here may feel moved enough to communicate with Mr Gove by email "today if you can all get off your rear ends" and politely point out that you will be very disappointed if he fails to bring this barbaric practice to an end.

Up here there was a BBC [Scotland] documentary about transporting male calves Via a ferry port up here [Cairnryan] the ferry operator was P&O

Within two days of the Programme being broadcast P & O stopped all such traffic.
