I just don’t have a clue.

I've not been long in my first house and I'm finding things out as I go along, so please be gentle.

I have a water tank in my loft, but it's completely empty of water, so I guess that I am being fed from the mains.
Is this a good idea ?
Should/could I therefore remove the tank ?
Or would I be better reverting back to the tank ?

The cold water via all taps could probably take my hand off if I opened it up fully but the hot is as slow as a carthorse with its legs tied.

I have an emersion tank in the second bedroom and a small boiler downstairs ... not sure what is doing what, but in the time it takes to run a bath, I could watch a game of footie and some.

I guess I'm just looking for the best, or a suitable solution for the whole house, without it costing too much.

What could I do to improve the hot speed? Or/and what would be best for the whole house?

Any information or advice would be greatly apprieciated.

Kind Regards,

are you sure the cylinder is in use? what is your boiler is it a combi if not there has to be a tank full somewhere?

The tank in the loft definatley is not in use and I have an Ideal Isar combi.

Checking the emersion also, it appears empty/dead.

sounds like the tanks have been disconnected when the combi was installed. the combi has no need for external tanks (well, most dont). altho they are often removed
