Is there any way of getting dried on emulsion paint off brass door handles other than with a cotton bud and paint remover? I've tried meths and white spirit with no joy. I did have a tin of paint remover but it seems to have rotted the bottom of the tin and leaked out. Pity to have to buy another tin for such a small area.

I get good results with meths and water 50/50. Dunno why but it works for me.

dont use stripper - it'll strip the laquaer off the brass if you have any. I would use a small piece of hardwood with a sharp edge and try scrape the paint off to start with...

A wooden or plastic spatula will probably remove it yet they would benefit from a soak in hot water in order to soften the Emulsion first, so if you can take them off and soak in a bowl before you attempt to remove it, the task would be a lo easier.
