Hello

I have a mozaic shower ensuite. It's a very worrying thing. Every now and again I walk into the living room underneath and notice a brown patch in the ceiling. It's the ensuite again.

Re-silicone, maybe even re-grout. Where are these leaks coming from. Try one thing, then another, and another.

What a nightmare.

And if the things you try don't work ... then what ? Get a hose and hose one wall at a time ? What if the leak is a slow leak ? What then ? Could it be one of the several billion grout lines in these little mozaic tiles ?

Rip the whole thing down ?

I have a policy of resealing the silicone every 3 years but ... the whole thing is a disaster in waiting.

It's just waiting to F me up.

So ... what's the solution to this ?

Plan to rebuild the F thing every 5 years ?

I saw some people in the states put some black membrane down before they install the shower ... but hell if its leaking, it's leaking membrane of not. Maybe an overflow tray right underneath should be built ... at least that way if it leaks it comes out the tap rather than on my ceiling.

?

Sorry to hear ... Never good when it gets to damp patches on the ceiling, with wet areas like that it really is all in the prep.

Proper tanking, waterproofing, underfloor membranes where needed and suitable, good quality materials, fixtures and fittings.

Oh and the ace in the pack, experienced installers.

Should give years of trouble free use.
