In March, when my Octopus Tracker tariff came to an end, and due to future uncertainty, I opted to go on a reasonable 14 month Fix with Octopus, whilst keeping an not to close eye on the latest Tracker, with a view to switching back if it showed promise. It had certainly saved me quite a bit, whilst I was on it, for that 12 months.

I swapped to the new Tracker, a couple or so weeks ago. It's not been nearly as good as last year, but has saved a little, mostly due to the lack of wind to drive the generators. The Sundays, have shown the usual dip in cost, due to industry not running, and surpluses, except for last weekend, but today is exceptional, it's down to 11.9p per kwh, and so time to make good use of it, clearing any delayed washing..

Do you get the impression companies like octypuss loss lead to draw in the business and then rely on people not bothering to change suppliers. How do you counter that? By keeping an eye on all the deals all the time?

I've been bitten by one 'good value' energy provider, going bust, then the rigmorol, and expense of being forced to an incompetent, plus expensive supplier (BG) - so I was keen to both find what seemed to be a more stable company, but which had some reasonable tariffs - Octopus seemed to fit the bill, so I moved to them, just as soon as I possibly could. I have been with them now a good while, maybe 2 years, and they have been completely beyond reproach. They also seem to go well above and beyond, in helping their customers to reduce their bills, by developing their 'pink' gadget, making their API data available, and supporting customers via user groups.
