Hi I have a 2006 Ford Tansit fitted with a 2.5 duratorque engine,it turns over and takes some time to fire up. when started if you turn off engine it will start straight away, if you leave it for 5 minutes it will take some time to turn over before it fires up again.Heater plugs are ok,,gives the impression its out of fuel before it fires up.its seems to loose fuel pressure maybe, any ideas?, or experience of this fault.

Many thanks

Sounds as though you have an air leak in the fuel system, does it have a primer bulb in the system? If so, pump it until you feel resistance and then try it it, if its OK then check the system for an air leak, could be at the fuel filter.

A good first thing to try. Next is a compression test. Have seen this on a Merc before. Won't start when cold but ok when hot. All heater plugs ok, Was traced to worn piston rings.
