Hi,

1st post on this forum. Been reading it for a while now and it's a fantastic source of knowladge, so thanks to all that helped me in the past without you even knowing about it!

My question is hyperthetical at this stege -

If I had Engineered Oak wood florring in the Kitchen diner and then later on wanted to install a Kitchen island, just for counter space and storage, no electrics or plumbing, how would I go about it? I know it is not recommended to fix kitchen units over wood flooring due to movement, so would I need to cut out the correct size from the floor so that the kitchen island could then be fixed the sub floor underneath? or can I get away with installing it over the top?

Thanks

Matty

You will need to cut the floor out for the island legs etc allowing expansion gaps, if you install directly ontop of the floor you will restrict the movement and risk the floor lifting etc.
