Engineered Wood Floor suitability for high moisture content

Dear forum,

Our existing floorboard has moisture content around 16%. Now, the solid wood seller does not recommend to install any wood including Engineered Wood Floor but our floor fitting company says it is ok for Engineered Wood Floor. We know that we live next to the street that according to the Environment Agency is in the Flood zone. However, the area has no flood in the last 30 years. We checked our house there is no obvious leak or damp and certainly does not smell damp. Does any one know what the max moisture content the floor can have for Engineered Wood floor

thats a little high. First you need to look into the problem. Check your air bricks are not blocked. Like a new drive or a conservatory that has been built incorrect. Or even builders rubble below the boards stopping airflow.

If all that is correct you need moister readings of joists to check they are not bridging dpm etc.
