Expansion in to cold main

    Is the distance require to the nearest cold water draw off. Required so there is enough pipe for the water to expand in to without it making the water coming out of the cold tap hot? Thanks

    In essence yes .... It's to avoid any expansion back into to what should be CAT1 water. Once it's warmed then it's CAT2, hence the need for the expansion vessel and check valve, if the distance can't be obtained.
