explain this..

I

imamartian

.. if you can....

i have a gate i made myself between my garage and house. Approc 7ft (tall) x 6ft wide. Two gates hanging from timbers securely fitted to house and garage. Ledge and braced design. Timbers approc 18mm x 150mm... treated timber from wickes. Been there about 4 years.

They're supported on those usual gate hinges, three on each gate,

But this year, one gate seemed to fall half an inch or so, and the bolt was mis aligned. Ok i thought the weather had affected mtal fittings, although nothing looked out of line !! but then we get the big thaw, and the gate adopts it's original mechanical stabce....... why might that be?

Ellal... you are great... yes i made the gate myself, but it's sound !! whereas you? i'm not sure...

Wotan, mate, it wasn't a seasonal effect, it went in a freeze. and came back in a wintery thaw ! ;)

and the rest of you? nothing is moving !

Oh and you Freddie?!! nice of you to be so generous...and i offer my hand of seasonal goodwill to you too! hopefully we can be decent combatants of the future?

PS opinionated responses via GD please!!
Only technical responses here please ! as i still don't get my gate (not gait !!)
